Save your catch address as a contact
Name your catch address “Receipts” in your contacts, so forwarding a receipt from any phone or computer is just Forward, type “rec”, Send.

Your catch address is long and random on purpose: nobody can guess it and send files into your Drive. That also makes it impossible to remember. Save it once as a contact and your email app fills it in for you, on every device.
Pick a name you'll find
Start every catch-address contact with Receipts, then add the catcher's name:
- Receipts – Acme invoices
- Receipts – Travel
- Receipts – Home
Typing "rec" then lists all of them together, and the second part tells you which catcher you're sending to. Put ExpenseCatcher in the company field so searching "expense" finds them too.
The quickest way: Add to contacts
Open the catcher in ExpenseCatcher and tap Add to contacts. You get a contact card that's already filled in, with the name, the address and our logo as the photo.
- iPhone or iPad: open the card and choose Create New Contact.
- Android: open the downloaded file and add it to your Google account's contacts.
- Computer: the card downloads as a
.vcffile. To use it in Gmail, go to Google Contacts, click Import, and choose the file.
Save it where your email app looks. Gmail suggests addresses from your Google contacts. On an iPhone, the Contacts app might save new contacts to iCloud instead. If you mostly forward from Gmail, set your Google account as the default under Settings → Contacts → Default Account (on newer iOS versions it's Settings → Apps → Contacts).
By hand in Google Contacts
This one syncs to every phone and computer signed in to your Google account.
- Go to contacts.google.com and click Create contact.
- First name: Receipts. Last name: the catcher's name, for example Acme invoices.
- Company: ExpenseCatcher.
- Email: paste your catch address.
- Click Save. If you like, add a label such as ExpenseCatcher to keep all of them together.
On an iPhone
- Open Contacts and tap +.
- First name Receipts, last name the catcher's name, company ExpenseCatcher.
- Tap add email, paste your catch address, and tap Done.
On Android
- Open Contacts and tap + (Create contact).
- If asked where to save, choose your Google account.
- Fill in the name and paste your catch address as the email, then tap Save.
In Outlook
In Outlook on the web, open People, click New contact, and fill in the same name, company and email. Outlook then suggests it when you type "rec" in the To field.
Using it
- A receipt email: tap Forward, type "rec", pick the right Receipts contact, Send.
- A paper receipt: take a photo or scan, tap Share → Mail, and send it to Receipts. More on that.
- Your accountant asks where a receipt is: search Drive. Each catch is saved under a name like

For receipts that arrive every month, don't forward by hand at all: let a Gmail filter do it.
