Gmail receipt filter builder
Choose what to match, add the senders your receipts come from, and copy the search into Gmail. It runs in your browser; nothing is sent to us.
One email address or domain per line (or comma-separated). Copy the sender from a real receipt email so the filter can’t miss it.
Your Gmail search
- Open Gmail, paste the search into the search bar and check it finds your receipts.
- Click the filter icon at the right of the search bar, then Create filter.
- Tick Forward it to and choose your ExpenseCatcher catch address. Gmail asks you to confirm a new forwarding address first; see our Gmail guide.

How it works
Gmail filters use the same words as Gmail search: from: for senders, subject: for the subject line and has:attachment for emails with files.
Try the search in Gmail first to check it finds the right emails. Then create a filter from it and choose “Forward it to” your ExpenseCatcher catch address.
Gmail asks you to confirm a forwarding address before it forwards anything. Our Gmail guide walks through every step.
Questions
- Will the filter forward old emails?
- No. Gmail filters forward new mail only. You can forward older receipts by hand.
- Is anything sent to ExpenseCatcher?
- No. The search is built in your browser. Nothing you type here leaves the page.
